Master Rip Bowles, can't remember where he has hidden his bones around the house and needs help finding them. This trail is a fun way for our younger visitors to explore the house, marking on their map where they have seen the bones as they go along! Those who successfully complete the trail are rewarded with a certificate and sticker!

Pretend you’re a cook or servant in the historic kitchen. Create a 17^th Century ‘Grand Salad’ according to an old recipe and test your strength on our replica butter churn.

Then dress up as one of the characters from Nicholas Rainton’s Mayoral Pageant in the Inner Chamber which included an elephant! 

Rip’s Nature Trail, created by our young curators is a perfect way to explore the grounds of Forty Hall Estate. The task is to complete and solve the riddles, and is fun at all times of the year!
We will provide a bag with everything needed to see the smallest bug and the furthest bird. We will give you a certificate at the end of the trail!

An exhibition especially for children, about the children that may have lived or worked at Forty Hall over the year narrated by Master Rip Bowles, who was faithful canine companion to the Bowles family in the 1890's!

Stories about children are revealed via QR codes but don't worry if you don't have mobile phone as there is still plenty to learn on brightly coloured info panels, plus some audio & video elements too.
