Help Us To Bring History To Life!
Forty Hall is about to reopen its doors to the public, almost 400 years after it was first built. We are looking for keen actors over the age of 50 to volunteer to play the original owners of the Hall, Nicholas and Rebecca Rainton.
We are especially interested in building up a number of volunteers who can play Sir Nicholas Rainton. Sir Nicholas was in his early sixties when Forty Hall was finished. He was already a successful merchant and was about to be made Lord Mayor of London (in 1632) and knighted (in 1633).
Our volunteer Sir Nicholas' would have a number of roles, which may include:
- Taking tours of the house "in character"
- Being in character as Nicholas Rainton at events and festivals
- Attending photo and publicity events
The first event that we are looking for a volunteer Nicholas Rainton is the 15th of June, but there will be regular opportunities throughout the year.
Volunteer performers will be expected to read and learn historic facts and information about the people that they are playing, they will also be expected to attend a workshop on performance and interacting with the public. The costumes will be provided.
If you do not feel that you would make a good Nicholas or Rebecca Rainton there are a number of other roles you can play, from Nicholas' heirs and guests to architects and servants. There is a role for everyone at Forty Hall.
